This pairing was a very special start for me with Ashki. He has fathered several litters for me, but this was his first. He is a black variberk with a head spot and standard ear (carries dumbo.) He'll be reaching 3 years old in November 2019 and was produced from Sylvi and Carl. He was paired to Loch, fawn variegated with standard ears. At the time, I was struggling to find a female to breed since I did not know line breeding was a thing back then, he could have been bred back to his mother. Line/in breeding is the only true way to properly track health and temperament history, as well as establish a proper line, which is what I do now. I was able to come across Loch and Nessie, who I thought were coming from a reputable breeder. A friend at the time was picking them up for me. However, it turned out they came from a feeder breeder instead. This wasn't told to me until they had already been bred and were very pregnant. This was Loch's first, and only, litter. Her temperament background was unknown, so the litter was more for testing. Luckily, I had several wonderful babies produced from this pairing, but the mother had extreme maternal aggression. The maternal aggression is why this litter is to be her only one. It was a shame because she was the first, and only, rat I have ever had that wiggled her tail when I scratched her ears and sides, so I was hoping for more babies with this kind of personality.
