These two sweethearts started it all for me! Sylvi was a Russian blue Berkshire with dumbo ears. She was shipped in from a breeder in Florida due to the hanta virus going around at the time. Florida was no impacted by the virus, leaving her clean of it. Carl came from a local breeder, who stopped breeding shortly before I started. She owned a little pet store and bred or rescued almost all of the pets she had available, which is my dream job! Carl was a hooded fawn that carried dumbo. He lived to be just short of 2 and passed of old age. Sylvi lived to be just over 3 and passed of old age as well. In her late life, she did develop a mammary tumor that never got very big, and didn't seem to alter her abilities. Some of her female descendants have developed these tumors in their later life as well. This can be prevented by spaying early on, while greatly decreases the risk of any hormonal ailments including tumors and pyometra.
