Adoption Lists **Lists at the bottom **Please read all the information below before asking for an application
How to Get on the Adoption Lists:
- Contact me via text message, e-mail, or fill out the contact form on the Contact Me page. - If I have space on the list you are looking at (male or female), I'll personally send you my application. I do not keep it publicly open to help encourage adopters who are serious. If I do not have space on my lists, I will not send an application, but I will give you an estimated time for when I'll be re-opening apps for the next litters. - Once you have filled out the application, and I have reviewed it, you will be placed on the list you applied for. If the information does not fit what I am looking for in an adopter, I am willing to work with you to help direct you to suitable supplies. There is a lot of misinformation about rats out there, so lots of people come to me needing assistance. - Filling out the application alone is what gets you a position on the list, but full approve will not happen until you have purchased suitable supplies, set them completely up, and sent pictures of all required items. Required items are the cage fully set up, water bottle, food bag, bedding bag, accessories and enrichment items (chew toys, hammocks hides, wheels, etc.) If any items in the pictures are not safe to use for the ratties, those items will need to be returned and/or exchanged if it is too small of an item. - After all pictures and application have been reviewed and approved, we will set up a time and date for you to pick up your new family members once they are reserved!
How the Adoption Lists Work
Adoptions are completed through reservations. Reservations are made based on the order of the adoption lists. Those lists are determined in the order the applications were received. If you are a past adopter, you will be placed on the list as soon as you've reached out to me, as long as there is room on the list you want to be on. New adopters will go on the list according to their application number. Once reservations start (when the rats are 5-6 weeks old), I will start at the top of the adoption list. That person will get to reserve the rats they are interested in from those available. They will have 24 hours to tell me their choices or let me know they need more time to choose. If I do not get a reply within 24 hours, I will move on to the next in line. If a reply is sent after 24 hours, they will be able to choose from the available rats, though I cannot guarantee the ones they wanted will still be available. If a reply has not been received within 7 days, they will be removed from the adoption list. After 7 days, if they reply and still wish to adopt, they may be added to the bottom of the list if I feel they are serious with adopting. After that person has picked their rats, they will have 7 days to send in their deposit to officially reserve the rats they have picked. The deposit is 50% of the total adoption fees. This is a non-refundable fee to help prevent adopters from backing out. Refunds will ONLY be given if there is a change on my end that results in them not being able to adopt said rat(s). If the deposit is not sent within 7 days, the rats picked will go back on the available list. They can then be claimed by anyone. I do move to the next in line right after the person before has picked their rats, whether their deposit has been sent in or not. This helps move along the reservation process. Each potential adopter will have 7 days to send in their deposit, unless otherwise stated. The rats they chose will be pending reservation, up to 7 days, until the deposit has been sent and received. Once their rats are fully reserved, a pick-up time and date will be determined. I will no longer be allowing adopters to pass and wait for the next litters. This clogs up the adoption lists, and makes it harder for me to keep track of who wants to adopt what. I will ONLY accept applications for the current (or planned) litters based on when they contact me. If they do want to wait for the next litters, they will be removed from the current lists and will need to contact me again with I open slots for the next litters. I will not guarantee they will have the same position they did previously.
I have the right to deny any applicant that wishes to adopt from me during any point leading up to the official adoption. If at any time I do not feel you are a good fit for the animals I breed, I will inform you as to why. I am willing to help educate potential adopters on the proper care for ratties, but if I feel that care will not stay consistent, or you are not willing to work with the recommended supplies, you will not be approved for adoption. I take this very seriously. Breeding is a side hobby of mine, not to make a profit or quick sale. I take the time to find fitting adopters for the animals I work hard to produce and care for, even if that means I have the animals longer than expected. BIDS are NOT ACCEPTED to get you a higher position on the adoption lists! Filling out the application is REQUIRED for potential adoption. Refusing to fill it out means you will not be adopting from me.
**I do not require a deposit to be placed on the waiting list. The only deposit needed will be when you reserve your rat(s). **If you have sent in an application, but do not see your name on this list, I have it on my personal copy. I do not always have time to update this immediately after adding new potential adopters to the adoption lists. **Specifications listed next to potential adopters are not set. They are just what was selected on their application. Preferences can be changed at any time based on the litters you will be able to adopt from.
**Applications for my next litters will be opening around late August! Please reach out to me then to have one sent to you. These spots are only good for my planned August/September litters. I will not accept those wanting to wait for other future litters.
